FDSA Workshop

Go! Sending to Jumps and Cones

Start Date: May 8, 2022
Registration Opens: June 22, 2022

The send exercises can be challenging to teach because the dog is required to move away from you. In this workshop, we’ll break down the steps to teach various types of send exercises, starting with circling a cone. From there, your dog will learn target training, how to apply that target to a cone, and finally how to send to the cone and sit on cue. We will also cover jumping, including how to teach the jump itself then how to send to the jump from a distance. This workshop will be applicable for all types of jumps, including the unique challenges of the broad jump.

Whether your dog is brand new to sends and jumps or you just need some troubleshooting tips, this workshop will be valuable to you. Join me as I outline the process of teaching jumps and sending so you can walk into the ring knowing your dog has a clear understanding of the exercises that encompass these skills! Equipment suggested for this workshop includes a target that can eventually be attached to a cone, a jump, and a cone (or something similar).

Working students will be able to spend the week training then post a 90 second video for review. Personalized feedback will be provided that will help progress the dog to the next steps. Working dogs of all levels will benefit from this workshop.
